MIA Kurs 2010

Konzept des Kurses Praxisprojekt Entwicklungszusammenarbeit

Der Kurs „Praxisprojekt in Entwicklungszusammenarbeit“ wurde im Frühjahrssemester 2010 wiederum 25 Studierenden des Studiengangs  „Master International Affairs and Governance“ (8. Semester) angeboten. Der Kurs wurde in Form mehrerer Blockseminare durchgeführt. Nach einer Einführung in die Ansätze zur Entwicklungszusammenarbeit von seco und DEZA haben die Studierenden im Rahmen von Gruppenarbeiten an konkreten Projekten gearbeitet und diese im Rahmen eines zweitägigen Besuches in Bern mit Mitarbeitern von seco und DEZA diskutieren können.

DEZA Themen 2010

1. Water footprint

Is the „water-footprint“ a suitable instrument and can it contribute to a solution for the global water scarcity?

2. “Dead Aid“- where is Dambisa Moyo right and where is she wrong?

Formulate an argumentation how SDC or a multilateral organization as a reaction to the stimulating and provoking theses of Dambisa Moyo.

3. Food Security

Rising food prices are often associated with increased hunger – are higher prices not an incentive for farmers to produce more food? What structural framework conditions (social, political) do farmers need to respond to such incentives?

SECO Themen 2010

1. Climate initiatives – where to go after Copenhagen

How could climate initiatives be financed in developing countries – overview on existing and planned initiatives

2. Infrastructure: separation of management and politics

Discuss different models of role division between private and public actors and mixed forms (corporatisation) for providing infrastructure services (water, energy) at the optimum cost in a sustainable manner.

3. Impact of infrastructure investments

Investments in infrastructure are again high on the development agenda – is this justified and how can the impact be measured?
